Alma, Ks.—Grandma Hoerner's is celebrating its 25th year of business this year. Created in 1986 in Encino, California Duane McCoy moved Grandma Hoerner's Foods to the Kansas Flint Hills in 1993. In its Alma, Kansas manufacturing plant Grandma Hoerner's produces over 60 natural and organic products.
Recalling the wonderful flavor from his youth, Duane McCoy worked hard to replicate Grandma Hoerner's apple sauce recipe. Using Fuji and Pink Lady apples Duane was able to keep the firm texture and sweet-tart flavor he remembered. From this classic recipe eight more flavors were developed that would create a company.
As demand grew customers began asking for other products with the same high quality. Now with over 60 products: from sauces, jams and preserves, pie fillings, toppings, chutneys, and relishes to premium dry mixes, gourmet coffee, and candles, everything is still made in small batches with the finest ingredients that won him his first clients. For 25 years Grandma Hoerner's Foods has stood for the old fashioned pure products that Grandma Hoerner would have made herself.
